I just got Photoshop Elements 8.0 and have started digital scrapbooking my recipes. Why? Well, if I am going to catalog all my recipes I want nice pages to look at. I hate boring cookbook pages. You’ll also never see a page without at least one picture. I don’t have any idea what something tastes like unless I can see it…that long list of ingredients doesn’t communicate a shittin’ thing to the imagination of my tastebuds, but a picture will make me salivate. Click on the recipe page in each post and blow it up. They’re designed to be printed at 8.5X11 and it should work out nicely if I didn’t screw something up. Let me know if I did.
I’m going to link to the products at the end of every post to show you where I got the kit or kits. It’s actually fairly difficult to find digiscrapping graphics that are appropriate for recipes. A lot of the web stores are not categorized well. Searching for keywords will sometimes yield different results based on whether you search for “food,” “recipe,” “cooking,” “kitchen,” etc. within the same site! It’s fairly aggravating. It is also beginning to appear to me that these graphics are pathetically simple and I should be manufacturing my own instead of paying for someone else’s. We’ll see how that pans out as this goes along.
If you want to do some recipe scrapping and are looking for some kits, I’ve started saving them on Delicious. Look for the username or tag cookingfromscraps to find the products I’ve bookmarked. Some I’ve already purchased and some are just food for thought, so to speak; things I might or might not ever find the right page for. These bookmarks by no means constitute a master list and just represent some things that I liked or ideas that I had. The products seem to turn over a lot and I find my links are broken as a designer moves to a different shop or a product is retired. Don’t bitch at me if the links are broken. I’m as annoyed with it as you are but I’m doing this to share my recipes not keep you organized.
By the by, I used this kit to make the header.
